




The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Women's Basketball team has made an impressive mark not only in the Mid-South Conference (MSC) but at a national level as they've jumped 6 spots from #14 to #8 this week in the NAIA Top 25 poll. With an overall record of 14-1 and a 4-0 mark in the Mid-South Conference, the Patriots are making a strong case for a MSC Championship in 2011-2012.

Williamsburg, Ky. – On Thursday, January 12th, 2012 the University of the Cumberlands (UC) will be hosting their inaugural Barefoot for Bare Feet event in association with Samaritan's Feet during the Patriot basketball games against Mid-South Conference (MSC) foe Georgetown College. The #14 Patriot women's basketball team will take on the #20 Lady Tigers at 6:00 pm with the #12 Patriots taking on the #6 Tigers at 8:00 pm.

The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Women's Basketball team has been on a roll since their only loss of the season on November 12th. Head Coach Melissa Irvin has had the team playing very well and once again this week that didn't change as the Patriots took the road to take on the University of Rio Grande on Thursday and West Virginia Tech on Saturday.

The University of the Cumberlands (UC) women's basketball team enter the 2012 year nearly perfect with a 12-1 record overall and staying undefeated in Mid-South Conference (MSC) play at 3-0. The Patriot ladies continue to play tough as they hit the big part of their MSC schedule now in January and February. One Patriot has stepped her game up an extra notch this season and once again is being recognized by the MSC in doing so.
Lauren Wombles (London, KY) was named the MSC Player of the Week on Monday January 2nd. This was the 3rdtime this season that Wombles has earned this honor and the 6thtime in her illustrious career.

The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Women's Basketball team made national and world news on January 22, 2011 when Stephanie Quattrociocchi (Windsor, Canada) heaved an 86 foot three pointer at the buzzer to end the first half against Campbellsville. The shot gave the Patriots a 7 point lead in the game, but earned UC a spot in many people's eyes throughout the world.
The play earned the #1 spot in that night's Top Plays segment on ESPN Sportscenter. Now, the "Shot Seen ‘Round the World" has made news once again as it was voted the #4 Top Play of the Year on ESPN's Sportscenter.
