The University of the Cumberlands' (UC) 2011 softball season has ended following a hard fought showing at the Mid-South Conference (MSC) tournament. Also, a number of softball Patriots earned honors for their work in the classroom, on the field, and in the community.

The University of the Cumberlands (UC) softball team traveled to Pikeville, KY this past Monday to take two back-to-back wins from the Pikeville College Bears in a best of three game series to advance to the Mid-South Conference (MSC) tournament.

With one week before the Mid-South Tournament, the University of the Cumberlands (UC) Patriots Softball team stepped up their game to defeat some close competition. They met up against two teams in double-header action and came out 2-2 on the week, making them 16-29 overall and 6-18 in Mid South Conference (MSC) play. The Patriots played on the road against non-conference Midway College (MC) and then hosted MSC rival Lindsey Wilson College (LWC).

This past week the University of the Cumberlands (UC) Patriot softball team took on the Campbellsville University Tigers, the St. Catharine College Patriots and the Golden Bears of West Virginia Tech in Mid-South Conference (MSC) action. The Patriots ended the week at .500 going 4-4.

Last week, University of the Cumberlands (UC) softball team battled in two double-headers where they fell short to Union College and Mid-South Conference (MSC) opponent Pikeville College. The Patriots finished the week 4-0, bringing their overall record to 10-23 and 2-11 in the MSC.

The Patriots played strong on Wednesday, April 6^th as they hosted the Union College Bulldogs, but came up short in each game, 2-5 and 1-2.
