[Intramurals] Cumberlands Hosts 2011 Region 10 KY NASP Region Tournament

On March 4^th and 5^th the University of the Cumberlands hosted the Region 10 Kentucky National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) Region Tournament in the O. Wayne Rollins Center. This tournament sends the top three teams and top five male and female winners from all three divisions to the state tournament which is held in Louisville, Ky. on March 28^th and 29^th. The three divisions are elementary, middle school, and high school. Over the course of the two-day tournament there were 625 shooters from 28 schools. These schools represent the 10 counties of Region 10 which are Whitley, McCreary, Laurel, Bell, Knox, Rockcastle, Jackson, Pulaski, Wayne and Clay Counties.

[Intramurals] Cumberlands Hosts First Ever Archery Camp

The University of the Cumberlands hosted its inaugural Archery Camp from July 18th to July 21st on Cumberlands campus. The camp consisted of 22 campers representing Kentucky, Tennessee, and West Virginia and were led by Cumberlands own Region 10 Archery Coordinator Kris Strebeck and a qualified staff.

During the camp, the campers received individual instruction on shooting, core strengthening, and proper bow care. Along with this instruction, State Coordinator and professional archer Jennie Richardson also spoke at the camp on handling tournament pressure and how to keep your nerves calm while shooting. She was also a demonstrator for many of the exercises so that the campers would see the proper way of using the bow.
