[Volleyball] Patriot Volleyball Adds Murphy to �12-�13 Roster

The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Volleyball program is coming off a successful season in 2011-2012 ending the year with an 18-10 record overall and 6-6 in Mid-South Conference (MSC) play. Head Coach Kara Clemenz and staff have been hard on the recruiting trail this offseason to bring in some great talent to build upon a solid core of returners. The Patriots are proud to announce the signing of Alexis Murphy for the 2012-2013 season.

The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Archery program continues to grow each week as Head Coach Kris Strebeck is still on the recruiting trail bringing in highly talented athletes to add to the Patriots' first roster. This past week, Strebeck added another to his upcoming roster as Ethan Gish has signed to become the newest Patriot archer.

The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Men's Golf program has one more week before competing on the biggest stage possible in the NAIA, the 2012 NAIA National Championship. Head Coach Chris Kraftick and his team have been in preparations over the last few weeks, but while getting ready for this prestigious tournament, the Patriots have also been hot on the recruiting trail as they have signed another top prospect for the 2012-2013 season.

[Softball] Softball Patriot Earns Champion of Character Award

The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Softball Patriots had a rough year in 2011-2012. As the Patriots ended their season, numerous awards were given out at the Mid-South Conference (MSC) Banquet held in Danville, KY with one Patriot earning a particular high honor for the season.

Senior outfielder Lindsey Meadors (Lancaster, KY) was named a co-recipient of the MSC Champion of Character award for the 2011-12 season. Senior Jordan Cornett from Campbellsville was the other recipient of the award.

[Women's Golf] Women's Golf Participates in Champions of Character Event

The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Women's Golf team is in final preparations to compete in the 2012 NAIA National Tournament on May 15^th-18^th. While in Greenville, Tennessee at the NAIA Tournament, the Patriots are also participating in other events as well to help promote the NAIA's Champions of Character program.

The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Baseball program has wrapped up the 2012 season and Head Coach Brad Shelton and staff has jumped head first into the recruiting process for the 2012-2013 season. The Patriots are looking to build upon a solid core of returning athletes. The first of many have committed to UC for the upcoming season as Kahana Neal as signed to play for the Patriots.

On Tuesday, May 1^st, former University of the Cumberlands (UC) baseball player Sean Mahley (Cambridge, OH) was drafted in the second round (pick #18 overall) by the Schaumburg Boomers of the Frontier Independent Professional Baseball League.

"For me to achieve my goal of playing professional ball has been a dream of mine since I was in little league," said Sean. "I have been blessed with the opportunity to continue my career."

As the team will travel to Salem, Oregon for the tournament, another young man will travel a greater distance to join the Patriots for the 2012-2013 season. Head Coach Chris Kraftick has continuously signed talent that has year in and year out taken the Patriots higher in the rankings and Isac Lambertsson will do that again.

The University of the Cumberlands (UC) just wrapped up the academic year on Saturday as a multitude of students completed their college careers with a degree. A plethora of those graduates were well deserving student-athletes whose time in the classroom and on the playing surfaces did not go unnoticed by many. One particular Patriot who played in every match in his career also earned an honor that is awarded to only one male and one female throughout the entire Mid-South Conference (MSC).
