Derrick Watkins is entering his 3^rdseason with the University of the Cumberlands (UC) Golf program as their Strength and Conditioning Coach.

A native of Harlan, KY, Watkins was graduated from Cawood High School.  After his time in the military, Watkins enrolled at UC and is currently taking classes. 

"Cumberlands is a school with a lot of tradition and is one of the top schools in the country for its athletic programs," said Watkins.  "The golf team works very hard and the players and coaches strive to be the best in the nation.  I'm very competitive and determined, but I always stay positive.  I want the team to take that same mindset in.  Be the best you can be on and off the course because you could be influencing others around you without knowing it."

Since joining the staff at UC, Watkins has worked with three NAIA All-Americans in Pierre Carlsson, Fredrick Lindblom, and younger brother Aaron Watkins.  Derrick instills the attitude that you should do everything you can to win and work harder than anyone else and you will achieve your goals. 

Watkins resides in Williamsburg with his wife Rebecca.
