Edgar Weiser is entering his eighth season as an assistant coach at University of the Cumberlands. Coach Weiser helped guide one of the best offenses in the NAIA in 2012, as well as guiding them to a 10-2 record and a first round NAIA FCS victory. Between 2007-2010 UC won the Mid-South Conference (MSC) East three times, as well as the MSC West once and have advanced to the NAIA Football Championship Series Playoffs in five of the past seven seasons. He has coordinated the offensive and special teams units that have been ranked amongst the top units in the country in recent seasons. Under his guidance UC earned their highest ranking in school history at 6th in 2008 as well as finishing 2012 ranked 7th in the final NAIA poll, while also earning the programs only 2 playoff victories in school history.
The offense has had much success under Weiser. In 2012, UC had it’s best offense to date as they ranked 1st in the country in total rushing offense (4,023), 2nd in the country in Rushing Offense per game (335.30), 3rd in the country in Total Scoring Offense (540), and also 3rd in the country in Scoring Offense per game (45.00). Also, in 2010, UC was 4th in the nation in rushing (275.0 ypg) and 13th in the nation in scoring offense (38.0 ppg). In 2009, UC was 2nd in the nation in rushing (290.1 ypg) and 18th in the nation in scoring offense (32.3 ppg). In 2008, UC was second in the nation in rushing (270.6 ypg) and 14th in the nation in scoring (34.8 ppg). In 2007, UC was 4th in the nation in rushing (282.0 ypg) and 17th in the nation in scoring (30.9 ppg).
The special teams units have also been a key component to UC's success. In 2010, UC's punter, Mitchell Mascaro, was named MSC Special Teams Player of the Week twice. Brendan Kelly was third in total Punt Returns (287), and returned three kicks for TD's (1KOR, 2PR). That year the Patriots also finished 1st in the nation as a team for Punt Return Yds per Attempt (22.00). In 2009, UC finished ranked 8th in the country in kickoff returns (22.8 ypr). In 2008, Maurice Berryhill was ranked 7th in the nation in punt returns (13.2 ypr) and 15th in the nation in kickoff returns (24.2 ypr). In 2007, Moses Cochran led the nation in kickoff returns for touchdowns with three.

Weiser came to the University of the Cumberlands after spending two years as a high school assistant coach in Texas. As the offensive line coach at Hendrickson High School (Pflugerville, TX) he helped lead Hendrickson to their first playoff appearance in school history (2005). Weiser was also instrumental in guiding an offensive line unit that opened up holes for three different running backs that gained 500 yards or more.
Weiser spent the 2003 season as the tight ends coach at Southeast Missouri State University (SEMO) where he coached first team all Ohio Valley Conference and 2nd team All-American tight end Ray Goodson.
In 2002, Weiser served as the tight ends coach at the University of Nebraska-Omaha (UNO). While at UNO his tight ends helped the Mavericks lead the North Central Conference in rushing. They averaged an impressive 208 yards per game.
In 2001 Weiser was a graduate assistant wide receiver coach at Southern Arkansas University and in 2000 he coached defensive and tight ends at his alma mater Las Cruces High School in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Las Cruces High won the 2000 New Mexico Class 5A state championship.
Weiser, originally from Las Cruces, NM, attended college and played football at Eastern New Mexico University (1996-99) in Portales, NM. While playing at ENMU he started two years at tight end and one year at defensive end. In 1999 ENMU won the Lone Star Conference South Division championship.
In 2000 Weiser received his Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education with a minor in History from ENMU and in 2003 he earned his Master's degree in Education from Southern Arkansas University.
