The University of the Cumberlands Women’s Golf team started their fall season this past week at the University of the Cumberlands Fall Invitational in Corbin, KY. The ladies hosted a tournament featuring six teams including Lindsey Wilson College (1st – 627), Georgetown College (2nd – 674), Campbellsville University (3rd – 685), Bethel College, TN (4th, 686), and Tennessee Wesleyan (5th – 716).

The Cumberlands struggled the first round, but the second round was more consistent. Freshman Katie Akins (Corbin, KY) placed highest of the team, coming in 26th with a final score of 193. Coming in 28th was freshman Margaret Warren (Claypool, IN) with a final score of 201. Junior Shannon Schottelkott (Greenfield, OH) placed 30th with a score of 210, and finishing the team off was junior Emily Sturgill (Pineville, KY) placing 32nd with a score of 286.

The ladies will be traveling to Georgetown, KY for the Georgetown College Invitational on September 20-22, 2006.
