Williamsburg, KY – The University of the Cumberlands Head Men's Basketball Coach Don Butcher has announced the signing of Michael Wolfe as part of the 2017-2017 class.  Wolfe will join the Patriots this fall.

The Patriots went 22-9 last season, including a 8-6 mark in the Mid-South Conference, to earn their fourth straight trip to NAIA National Tournament.

"Michael adds some much needed size to our front line, he will also be a huge addition for us on the offensive end as he will showcase his ability to stretch the defense at his position," said Coach Butcher. "We are excited to have Michael, and are expecting great things from him."

Wolfe, a senior from Germantown, MD, is a transfer from North Carolina Central. In his lone season with the Eagles, Wolfe played in 17 games and shot 46% from the field.  Prior to joining North Carolina Central Wolfe spent time at both South Plains College and Siena College.  At South Plains, he played in 28 games, averaging 4.1 points, while shooting 49.5% from the field.

Wolfe began his collegiate career at Siena College where he played in 36 out of 38 games for the Saints. He was a member of the Saints team that won the CBI Championship over Fresno State.  Prior to college, Wolfe attended Georgetown Prep, where he averaged 15.8 points and 8.5 rebounds per game.

"I believe University of the Cumberlands, is the best fit for me as a basketball player and most importantly as an individual," said Wolfe. "During the recruiting process I developed a strong relationship with Coach Clarke and I am more than excited about being a Patriot."
