Palm Beach Gardens, FL – The 2017 NAIA National Championships wrapped up play on Friday afternoon as nice weather finally set in for the final day of play. UC would push but would only be able to jump one spot overall on the leaderboard after the day was complete, earning a 12th place finish overall while Kaitlyn Riley (JR/Lawrenceburg, KY) pushed to earn herself a high finish as well.

The Patriots shot a final round score of 323 for a final three-day total of 975, 50 shots back of the National Champion Oklahoma City University. Kaitlyn Riley carded a 74 (+2) in the final round to earn a third place finish, her second straight season inside the top three as she had a great defense of her individual national title from 2016. Candice Lindeque (SR/Boksburg, South Africa) finished tied for 55th overall after her final round 81 (+9) pushes her to total score to 244 (+28). Annabeth McKay (SR/Jefferson, TX) fired her third consecutive round of 84 (+12) to sit in a tie for 74th with a score of 252 (+36). Rachel Pingleton (SR/Parksville, KY) finished her final round with a score of 84 (+12) for a three-day score of 255 (+39) to finish in 78th place. Sadie Martinez-Clavijo (SR/Hartford, CT) shot 88 (+16) in the final round for a total of 271 (+55), which was good for a 90th place finish.

"Today was a great day. Obviously we can always play better, but it has been a great ride with our five seniors this year and today was a great celebration of their careers," said Head Coach Taylor Riggs. "Kaitlyn gave it her best. She fought and fought but came up just short. Definitely did not have her best stuff but that's sports and that's just how it goes some days, but a great event for her!"
