Kansas City, MO - The UC Baseball team is on a great run as of late, winning 14 of their last 15 contests dating back to March 28th. With an opportunity to clinch a regular season championship for the first time in nine years coming this weekend, the Patriots are catching the eyes of voters across the country as they made a move up in this edition of the NAIA Top 25 Coaches Poll.
UC received 152 total voting points, climbing five spots from #25 to #20 in the latest edition of the NAIA Top 25 Coaches Poll, national officials announced on Tuesday. Former #1 Faulkner University dropped to #2 as Oklahoma City University now sits atop the rankings for the first time since May 8, 2015. The Starts garnered 16 of the 17 first place votes. Oklahoma Wesleyan, Bellevue (NE), and Central Methodist (MO) rounded out the top five teams in the poll.
Other notable teams mentioned in the Top 25 Coaches Poll are Tennessee Wesleyan (#6), Georgia Gwinnett (#14), Middle Georgia State (#16), Bryan (#21), and Huntington (#24). MSC Rival Campbellsville University along with Reinhardt University from the AAC is also receiving votes in the poll.
The Patriots will look to close out regular season conference play this weekend as they host Campbellsville University for a three-game series. Games are currently slated for Friday, April 21st and Saturday , April 22nd, but due to impending weather conditions could be moved to other dates.
