Williamsburg, KY – The UC women's tennis team earned the second seed, while the men's team earned the fourth seed in the upcoming Mid-South Conference Tournament which is set to begin Sunday, April 23, in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
The women's team went 13-7 overall, including a 5-1 mark in the MSC to earn their highest seeding in program history. The Patriots will face seventh-seed Pikeville in the quarterfinals at 9 a.m. EST at Warren East High School. Cumberlands defeated the Bears 9-0 earlier this year, only giving up four games the entire match.
The winner of that match will advance to the semifinals against the winner of the Campbellsville vs. Shawnee State match, Sunday at 4 p.m. EST at Warren East High School. UC came from behind to upset then 18th-ranked Tigers 5-4, while defeating Shawnee State 9-0.
The men's team went 5-14 overall and 3-3 in the MSC to earn a quarterfinal match with fifth seed Georgetown at 12 p.m. EST at Kereiakes. The Patriots defeated the Tigers 9-0 in their MSC opener on March 22. The winner of that match will advance to the semifinals against top seed Lindsey Wilson on Sunday at 7 p.m. EST at Kereiakes.
The Mid-South Conference championships matches will take place Monday at Kereiakes with the men's match at 11 a.m. EST, followed by the women's match at 3 p.m. EST.
