Williamsburg, KY – UC Baseball is in the midst of a solid seven-game winning streak, ending the week with a strong sweep over Mid-South Conference foe Shawnee State University. The Patriots are now 36-11 overall this year as they enter the final stretch of the regular season. Two Pats players would have stellar performances on the week as they would be honored with weekly awards.

Juniors Manny Castellano (JR/Brooklyn, NY) and Jesse Reyes (SR/Palm Springs, CA) were named the Pitcher of the Week and the Player of the Week of the MSC respectively, conference officials announced on Monday. It is the first of the season for Castellano and the first of his career. It is Reyes' second weekly award of the season and second of his career.

Castellano threw a complete-game shutout on Saturday in UC's 16-0 victory over Shawnee State. In his seven innings of work, he tallied ten strikeouts while allowing just six hits and two walks. The win for Castellano gave him his second-straight complete game win in conference action, moving him to 4-1 overall in MSC play.

Reyes hit .450 at the plate last week and compiled a .700 slugging percentage as UC went 5-0, outscoring their opposition 51-11. He finished the week with eight runs scored and eight runs batted in, while hitting a home run in his five games. Reyes highlighted the week going 4-5 at the plate in his second game at Shawnee State. In the 16-0 victory, he scored three runs and had three RBIs to go with his home run.

UC begins their week of play on Tuesday, April 18th as they host Milligan College for a doubleheader. First pitch is set for 3 pm.
