London, KY Ben Kendrick (JR/Danville, KY) shot a one over par to lead the University of the Cumberlands men's golf team to be in a three-way tie for second place at after the first day of competition at the Mid South Conference Spring Invitational. The Patriots carded a 309 in the opening round and are 17 strokes back Monday afternoon at Crooked Creek Golf Course. 

Kendrick shot a 73 putting him tied for third just one stroke behind the leaders.

Ross Perry (JR/Somerset, KY) carded a 76 (+4) tying him for tenth, while Cody Ellis (SR/Corbin, KY) posted a 78 (+6) tying him for 17th. Michael Murphy (JR/Shepherdsville, KY) shot a 82 (+10)  tying him for 34th and to round out the team Lee Robinson (JR/Lawrenceburg, KY) carded a 87 (+15).

The Patriots had four players play as Individual, Kevin McCracken (JR/Gauteng, South Africa) (+7), Jonathon Kerr (FR/Cambridge, Ontario, Canada) (+13), Colin Crump (FR/Brandenburg, KY) (+17), and Matt Thomsen (SR/Brookfield, WI) (+26).

Eighteenth ranked and conference opponent Lindsey Wilson College shot a team total of four over par, 292 to put them at the top of the leaderboard. Individually the Blue Raiders' Ramus Lind and Alex Durham lead the way with even par, 72.

Cumberlands will return to the course Tuesday for the final round of the MSC Spring Invitational. The Patriots are scheduled for a 10 a.m. shotgun start.
