After opening up strong on Friday at the Milligan Madness Tournament, the University of the Cumberlands (UC) Volleyball Patriots finished off strong with wins over Tennessee Wesleyan and Trinity International on Saturday.  The 4-0 sweep at the tourney moves the Patriots to 6-3 overall on the season.

UC started their day facing Tennessee Wesleyan where the ladies won 3-0 in straight sets with scores of 25-15, 25-22, 25-12.  Jennifer Philpot (Cincinnati, Ohio) led the offense with 13 kills along with Morgan Schlatter (Springboro, Ohio) who added 8 kills.  Sydney Beck (Lebanon, Ohio) was strong defensively with 9 digs while Taylor Williamson (Ooltewah, Tenn.) pitched in 8 digs of her own.  Samantha Stuckwisch (Seymour, Ind.) was solid accumulating 21 assists in the match. 

The second match on Saturday was against Trinity International.  After dropping the first set, UC came back to win the next 3 to win 3-1 by scores of 16-25, 25-16, 25-14, 25-12.  Offensively, it was Schlatter who was dominant as she had 17 kills in the match followed by Stacey Sebald (Cincinnati, Ohio) with 12 kills and Philpot with 10 kills.  Philpot also had 13 digs to lead the defense.  Stuckwisch racked up with 40 assists in the contest. 

Jennifer Philpot was announced as the MVP of the tournament and a member of the All-Tournament team along with teammate Stacey Sebald.

The Patriots now prepare for their home opener of the season on Wednesday September 3rd at 7:00 pm against Mid-South Conference opposition St. Catharine College.
