Men's Golf - Tue, Jul. 1, 2014

The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Men's Golf team just finished another solid season of play in 2013-2014 as they finished 2nd at the Mid-South Conference Championships.  With the team just missing out on a trip to the NAIA National Championship Tournament, Head Coach Chris Kraftick and his staff have been busy recruiting for the 2014-2015 season, looking to make a return to the biggest tournament of the season.  The Patriots are excited to announce the newest addition to the Patriot squad, Gustav Beckvid.

Beckvid hails from Stockholm, Sweden where he attended the Danderyds Gymnasium.  Gustav has had a stellar career as he qualified for a top Nordic Golf League Tour which includes the Swedish Nordea Tour and Ecco Tour, as well as earning 6 Top 10 finishes this season.  He also accumulated a scoring average this season of 76.

When asked about coming to UC, Beckvid said, "I'm really excited to join the UC Men's Golf program after talking to Coach Kraftick.  Coach seems to have clear goals with the upcoming season and he wants the guys to deliver on the course and in the classroom.  My goal the last few years has been to play college golf.  I have seen a lot of my friends improve their game after a year or two of college and I think UC is a great place for me to develop my game."

Coach Kraftick added, "Gustav is a great pick up this late in the recruiting season.  He is a very talented and experienced player who I think will compete right away.  I credit Felix and Viktor for introducing Gustav to our program while home this summer.  They understand what we look for in players and have an impact on recruiting."
