Women's Golf - Mon, Jun. 30, 2014

The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Women's Golf program is one rich in tradition and success.  Year after year, the Patriot ladies prove that they are a force to be reckoned with in both the Mid-South Conference (MSC) and the NAIA.   In the 2013-2014 season, the women captured their 3rd straight MSC Championship and finished 5th at the NAIA National Tournament.

Upcoming senior Bri-Ann Tokariwski (Winnipeg, Canada) was a vital component in these team wins, but she alone has had quite the success this season, as she won the MSC Invite in April by 7 strokes.  A challenging, but rewarding component of golf is that the sport is year-around.  Summer tournaments are a huge factor in a golfer's game.  Tokariwski has been successful in several tournament in Canada, and in the coming days will attempt a 3rd straight Women's Amateur Championship at the St. Charles Country Club.

Sitting atop of the leaderboard is something that she is familiar with, and if she succeeds as Women's Amateur Champion, she will have achieved something that hasn't been done in 18 years to be exact.  Tokariwski is the type of player that is up for the challenge. "I think the biggest thing is to just go out there and play my golf," Tokariwski commented. She claimed the first two major tournaments of the season in Canada, the Women's City and District Championships and the Match Play Championship, and has her sights set on two other big tournaments late this summer.

Head Coach Chris Kraftick commented, "Bri is following up a great junior year with stellar play this summer.  She has been a true leader for our team both on the course and behind the scenes.  She was a Second Team All-American this year and I don't think ever played 100% healthy.  Summer golf is vital to a team's success and development and our women truly understand this."

Tokariwski along with the rest of the Patriot lady squad have high hopes for the 2014-2015 season, and look to make an even bigger advance in the NAIA.
