The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Men's Soccer program had another solid year in 2013 as they finished 8-8-1 overall with a 6-3 record in the Mid-South Conference (MSC).  With a good core of athletes returning for the upcoming year, Head Coach Brenton Benware and staff have hit the recruiting trail hard this year looking for great talent to help spring the Patriots towards the top of the conference standings.  UC is proud to announce the signing of Mike Buscemi for the 2014-15 season.

Mike is the son of Tony and Karen Buscemi and hails from Rockville, Maryland.  Buscemi will transfer to Cumberlands from Montgomery College in Rockville.  In his time there, he had 31 game appearances.  In 2013 alone, Buscemi had 11 goals and 17 assists in 22 total appearances, which included 6 starts.  His 17 assists ranked him 5th in the NJCAA Division III statistics category.

When asked about joining the team at UC, Mike commented, "I look forward to working hard to join a program with what appears to be a brilliant upside, and I can't wait to see what happens next.  I'm coming into preseason camp in August looking to make an instant impact, and I plan on continuing to do so for the next couple years.  Coach Benware, the team and I are ready and poised to bring some hardware back to UC."

Coach Benware added, "Michael has proven himself as a solid attacking player for the past couple seasons at Montgomery College.  His ability to create goals and assists will be vital to our team's success, and I'm thrilled to have him on board."
