The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Men's Basketball team had another successful season, finishing with a strong 20-12 overall record as well as a Sweet Sixteen appearance in the NAIA National Championship.  As the Patriots will lose five seniors to graduation in May, Head Coach Don Butcher and his staff have been hitting the recruiting trail hard this offseason and have signed a talented player for the 2014-15 team.

The Patriots are proud to announce the signing of Joshua Caldwell to the UC basketball program for the upcoming season.  Caldwell is the son of Katherine Caldwell and hails from Eaglecrest, IN.

While at Lake Land College, Caldwell dominated on the court, averaging 13 points per game while shooting an impressive 40% from behind the three-point line.  He also grabbed 5 rebounds a night as well as shooting an overall 50% from the floor.  A 6-7 small/power forward, Caldwell's athletic ability and versatility pencils him in as an immediate impact for Cumberlands.

"Joshua is a very skilled player for his size and he will be called on to contribute from day one," Head Coach Don Butcher commented.  "He can stretch the defense being able to shoot it from the perimeter where he made 40% of his 3 point attempts last season while shooting 50% from the field. Adding Joshua is a huge addition, and we as a coaching staff are extremely excited about having him join us."

When asked about joining the legacy of UC basketball, Caldwell added, "I feel comfortable with the coaches, and trust that they care about me as an individual. I'm excited to play the next two years there and help win a National Championship."
