The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Men and Women's Swim teams were on the road this past weekend as they competed in the Western Kentucky University Hilltopper Open in Bowling Green, KY.  Although some teams scheduled to compete did not make the trip, the Patriots did and were poised to have a good showing against the Hilltoppers.  Both Patriot teams placed 2nd overall in the Invite. 

1st place finishes for the Patriots include:

•          Marc Tahull (Barcelona, Spain): 200 yard IM - 1:54.76

•          Thalys Caixeta (Uberlandia, Brazil): 50 yard freestyle – 21.09; 100 yard freestyle – 46.09

•          Lucy Gregory (Leighton Buzzard, United Kingdom): 100 yard backstroke – 58.20

•          Women's 200 yard medley: Gegory, Mellissa Peplinski (Spokane Valley, WA), Charlotte Parent (Braine-l'allaud, Belgium), and Kaliegh Botill (Corcoran, CA) – 1:47.86

UC Head Coach Eric Skelly commented, "We had an outstanding meet.  The majority of our national cuts were achieved and the athletes stepped up to the challenge against one of the best NCAA Division I mid-major programs in the country."

Cumberlands will travel to Columbia, KY to match up with Lindsey Wilson College and University of Evansville on December 6th.  Swims are scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m.
