The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Women's Bowling program is in its first season as a program, and since its beginning, the Patriot ladies have shown that they are a force to be reckoned with. Their schedule has been a tough one as they have competed against some of the nation's top programs as well as in the Mid-South Conference (MSC).
CollegeBowling.com released their week six poll last week, and UC has been ranked 25th out of 84 teams in the nation. This speaks volumes of the women's team as 11 out of 12 members are freshman as well as this being such a new program. With the women placing in the individual top-25 at every tournament this fall, this ranking shows why they deserve to be in this position. This is also a climb, just from last week's poll where the Patriot ladies sat in 32nd place.
UC was only the second team in the MSC to be named in the top 25, behind number 8 ranked University of Pikeville.
"It's great that we were able to get off to such a strong start out first season," commented UC Head Bowling Coach Kevin Reigle. "We still have a long season ahead of us but it's good to see we are on the right track. I'm really proud of the girls and all the hard work they have put in so far."
The Patriot ladies will be back in action November 16th-17th as they travel to Louisville, KY to participate in the Bellarmine University Striking Knights Open.
