The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Women's Golf team is currently in preparation for their trip to the NAIA National Championships in May.  After their fantastic showing last week in the Mid-South Conference (MSC) Championship, it was one Patriot that came away with highest honors and earned recognition by the MSC.

UC junior Liz Stephens (Tockington, Bristol UC) is the Mid-South Conference Women's Golfer of the Week, conference officials announced on Tuesday.  Stephens earns her first weekly award of the season after winning the Mid-South Conference Championships' individual title last week at Bardstown Country Club at Maywood.

Stephens shot a two-day total 147 (76-71) to win by three strokes.  Stephens also led the Patriots to the team title and the automatic berth into the NAIA Women's Golf National Championships next month.

Stephens' scores during the tournament earned her a share of the Mid-South Conference Women's Golfer of the Year award alongside Cumberland University's Katie Legge.  She also earned 1st Team All-Conference honors as well.

The Patriots will be back in action on May 21st-24th in the NAIA National Championships at Wilderness Ridge Golf Course in Lincoln, Nebraska.
