The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Men's Tennis team wrapped up their season earlier this week as they fell to Campbellsville University in the quarterfinal round of the Mid-South Conference (MSC) Tournament.  Although their season may be over, many members of the Patriots' squad earned MSC honors on Thursday night.

UC's Ariez Heshaam (Kuching, Malaysia) was named Co-MSC Men's Tennis Freshman of the Year.  Heshaam produced a 5-2 record in MSC play along with a 5-2 record in doubles action in this 2013 season.  Ariez also earned 1st team MSC All-Conference honors as well.  His teammate Danilo Garcia (Quito, Ecuador) was honored as well as he earned Honorable Mention All-Conference for the 2013 season.

Two more Patriots were also honored for their work in the classroom as they earned MSC Academic All-Conference honors.  Sophomores Tyler Smith (Central City, KY) and Cody King (McCreary County, KY) both were named to the MSC Academic All-Conference team along with 22 others from throughout the conference.

In order to be nominated by an institution, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved at least sophomore academic status.
