Track & Field - Wed, Apr. 10, 2013

The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Track and Field team is off to a great start in the spring this season as a plethora of individuals have come away with great finishes and wins during their respective events.  One Patriot lady is doing so well she is being noticed by the Mid-South Conference (MSC) for the 2nd time this season.

Cumberlands' Danielle Hoop (Owenton, KY) has been named the Mid-South Conference Track Athlete of the week, conference officials announced on Monday.  It is the 2nd time this season Hoop has received this recognition and 2nd time of her career.

Hoop, a sophomore at UC, was impressive in the Centre Invitational as she won her only race.  She defeated 19 women in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:29.70, winning the race by 10 seconds.  Hoop was able to give the Patriots 10 of the 64 total points that helped lead the Patriots to a 4th place finish.

Danielle will now hope to improve on her time as she will participate in the UC Invite, the only home track meet of the season.  She and the rest of the Patriots will be in action in a 2 day meet that starts at 2pm on April 12th and finishes on Saturday April 13th
