The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Track and Field programs is off to a solid start in the spring this year as numerous individuals have come away with wins during their respective events. One Patriot has done so many times this season and for his efforts last week was honored by the Mid-South Conference (MSC).
Cumberlands' Albert Huntley (Atlanta, GA) was named the Mid-South Conference Track Athlete of the Week, conference officials announced on Monday. It is the 2nd award of the season and of Huntley's career.
Huntley, a senior at UC, returned to his hometown in the Emory Classic to capture the 42-man 100-meter dash with a time of 10.59 seconds. Earlier in the day, Huntley posted the fastest qualifying time (10.69 seconds) to earn a trip to the 100 finals. He added another first with his time of 21.49 seconds in the 200-meter dash, winning the 38-man event by nearly a second. Huntley closed the day on the track as he and his 4x100-meter relay team finished third. The quartet's time of 42.35 seconds was 0.23 seconds off the winning time.
The Patriots will continue their season this weekend on April 6th as they travel to take part in the Centre Invitational in Danville, KY.
