The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Archery program has reached the midpoint of its first season in school history, and has finished strongly in each tournament competed.  Head Coach Kris Strebeck hopes to build off this as he continues to recruit to compile a solid roster for the beginning of the fall season. Coach Strebeck and the Patriots are proud to announce the signing of Jessica Byrne.

Byrne is the daughter of J. Michele LaRocca and hails from Henderson, KY.  Jessica will graduate in May from Henderson County High School (HCHS).  Byrne has won several awards during her archery career placing 3rd at the World Tournament and receiving the Kentucky Colonel award. In high school, she won 22 medals in various competitions at HCHS ranging from 2nd to 10th place.

When asked about joining UC, Jessica commented, "I am very excited to be joining the University of the Cumberlands this fall. Although I'm a little nervous, I feel much more relaxed because I am getting to know the current team members. Five of my close friends have already joined the archery team at UC. Coach Strebeck has helped me tremendously in preparing for the transition to the college archery team. I look forward to the upcoming fall semester and starting the next chapter of my life."

Head Coach Kris Strebeck commented, "Jessica is coming from a very successful archery program that has won numerous state, national, and world titles. We are very excited to have her join our team for the upcoming season."

The Patriot archers will be back in action April 19-21 for the Regional Intercollegiate Archery Championships in Austin, Texas.
