The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Track and Field teams are off and running as they have gotten off to a solid start in their outdoor seasons.  With some great performances this weekend, one Patriot athlete was recognized for her efforts.

UC's Danielle Hoop (Owenton, KY) is the Mid-South Conference (MSC) Women's Track Athlete of the Week, conference officials announced on Monday.  The award is Hoop's first of the season and of her career.  Danielle earned a pair of top-10 finishes during the North Carolina Charlotte 49er Classic to earn this elite honor.

Hoop earned an 8th place finish in the 99-woman 1,500 meter run at the 49er Classic this past weekend in Charlotte, North Carolina.  She crossed the finish line in four minutes and 39 seconds.  The next day of the two-day event, Hoop finished 9th in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:17 in the 98-woman race.

The Patriots will be back in action on March 29th and 30th as they travel to compete in the Emory Classic.
