The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Women's Basketball team looked to finish out their regular season on a high note with a win over #6 Cumberland University that would extend their winning streak to 6 games. Unfortunately, the Bulldogs had other thoughts in mind as they took down the Patriots 71-48 in the final game of the regular season for UC.
The Patriots were able to keep it a very close game in the first half, but it was sloppy for both teams as UC trailed the Bulldogs 24-20 at the break. It was a 2nd half by Cumberland University that put the Patriots away for good as they outscored the Patriots 47-28 in the final 20 minutes of the game for the 71-48 victory.
The Patriots were led in the game by Brooke Forsythe (Brunswick, OH) with 13 points and 3 rebounds off the bench. Erica Lane (Knoxville, TN) was the only other Patriot in double figures pitching in with 12 points, 2 steals, and 1 assist.
The Patriots finished out the regular season with an 18-11 overall record and 11-9 in the Mid-South Conference (MSC) which gives them the #6 seed in the MSC Tournament. They will travel to Frankfort, KY this Thursday to take on #3 seeded Campbellsville University at 8:00 pm.
