The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Men's Basketball program began the season with one of its hottest starts in program history. After four straight losses after Christmas, the Patriots are back on the winning side of the scoreboard and for their efforts this past week; they made a jump in the NAIA Top 25 Coaches Poll.
The Patriots jumped 3 spots to #22 in the newest edition of the NAIA Top 25 Coaches poll up from #25. The Patriots garnered two solid victories last week as they took down UVA-Wise on Thursday 73-71 before knocking off the previously ranked #3 University of Pikeville on Saturday by a score of 73-71.
Columbia (Mo.) is yet again the #1 team in the country this week receiving all 11 first place votes and receiving 281 total voting points. Mid-South Conference (MSC) opposition Lindsey Wilson made a climb in the polls from #7 to #4 this week. The University of Pikeville fell 4 spots from #3 to #7 in the poll. Shawnee State University and Georgetown College also received votes in this week's poll.
The Patriots will be back in action on Thursday as they travel to take on St. Catharine College at 8:00 pm in the 2nd game of a doubleheader. UC will then take to the road on Saturday as they take on Georgetown College in a huge MSC matchup at 4:00 pm.
