This past weekend, the University of the Cumberlands (UC) Women's Wrestling team traveled to Bristol, TN for the WCWA National Championships and they had a good showing as they garnered quite a few All-American finishes. 

The Patriots started out early as Opelia Felipe (Rome, GA) finished in 7th place overall in the 101 pound class.  Felipe went 3-2 on her way to a 7th place finish and earning All-American with two pinfall wins and a decision victory in her final match.  Continuing on the track for the Patriots was Sherri Berube (Corbell, MI) who gained an 8th place finish at the tournament. Berube went 3-3 on the tournament including two pinfall wins and a decision victory on her way to an impressive 8th place finish at the 116 pound weight class earning All-American status.

Cianah Hee (Hauula, HI) and Kerstin Harmon (Bellefontaine, OH) both gained 5th place honors at the tournament earning All-American status.  Hee went 4-2 on the day with three of those being big pins and the other being a dominating decision victory en route to a 5th place finish in the 130 pound category.  Harmon also had a big day going 4-2 as well with three dominating decisions and a huge pin in the 5th place match of the 136 pound division. 

Lauren Louive (Massillan, OH) worked extremely hard in the 143 pound class garnering an 8th place finish and earning All-American status.  Louive went 2-3 on the day earning a decision win and a pinfall victory on her way to 8th place.  Sydney Nelson (Kingsland, GA) also had a great tournament earning a 5th place finish and All-American status in the 155 lb. weight class. Nelson earned a record of 4-2 on the day including 2 pinfall wins and 2 decision victories including a decision win in the 5th place match. 

The women will be back on the mat February 2nd as they travel to Colorado Springs, CO for the Dave Schultz Open.
