The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Women's Basketball program knew they had a tough week ahead of them this week as they would take to the road to face the #9 Campbellsville University Tigers on Thursday and finish their week at Mid-South Conference (MSC) rival Lindsey Wilson College on Saturday.  After two heart wrenching games, the Patriots found themselves on the losing end of two great games where both came down to the final seconds of play.

On Thursday, the Patriots took to the floor against #9 Campbellsville University with something to prove.  After holding a one point lead at the end of the first half of play, the Patriots felt they had a solid chance of knocking off a top ten foe.  Even after shooting over 55% from the floor and holding the #9 Tigers to just 36% shooting from the field, it was free throws and a late game circus layup from Campbellsville that gave UC a 65-63 loss. The Patriots were tops on nearly every category of the game though including fouls as UC was called for 29 fouls during the contest to Campbellsville's 14.  Leading the way for the Patriots was Brooke Forsythe (Brunswick, OH) with 16 points and 2 rebounds.  Ashley Mullins (Totz, KY) also pitched in 13 points and 7 rebounds on the night.

On Saturday, the Patriots would look to bounce back from the heartbreaking loss Thursday night against the Lindsey Wilson Blue Raiders.  After a hard fought, physical first half the Patriots held a 30-26 lead over the Blue Raiders.  Once again, foul trouble for the Patriots hurt them in the tail end of the game where the foul count was 23-10.  A late 2nd half run by the Blue Raiders helped them take a lead that they would not relinquish as they took down the Patriots 55-53.  Jackie Alexander (Brodhead, KY) led the Patriots on the night with 20 points and 3 rebounds.  Jill Herman (Powell, TN) also pitched in 10 points on the game.  Ashley Mullins had a solid game as well with 8 points and 11 rebounds.

The Patriots will be back in action on Thursday at home in the O. Wayne Rollins Center as they host the UVA-Wise Cavs at 6:00 pm.  They will then follow up on Saturday with another meeting against the University of Pikeville at home at 2:00 pm.
