The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Men's Basketball Team continues to improve on one of their best seasons in recent memory. As UC opened up their 2nd half of the season on Saturday against the Bulldogs of Tennessee Wesleyan College (TWC), it was certain that they are looking to keep the eyes of the NAIA turned on the Patriots as they defeated TWC 100-83.
It was a shooting spectacular as UC shot 58% from the field in the 1st half and 52% for the game as they improved to 13-1 on the season with the win. Six different Patriots scored in double digits in the game led by Benito Santiago, Jr. (Coamo, Puerto Rico) as he had 21 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, and a block. Antonio Bumpus (Columbus, OH) added 16 points and 9 rebounds. Markeith Cungious (Hawthorne, CA) also contributed highly with a double-double off the bench with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
The Patriots were monsters on the boards in the game as they outrebounded TWC 49-19. They also were in control for the majority of the game as there was only one lead change early in the 1st half and led by as much as 19 in the game.
UC will resume Mid-South Conference play on Thursday January 3rd as they host rival Georgetown College for a game. The women will begin the night with a game at 6:00 pm with the men to follow at 8:00 pm.
