The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Men's Golf team is preparing for another great season in the spring of 2013. UC looks to make an impact on the NAIA this spring, but Coach Chris Kraftick and staff are already making a splash for next year as they are happy to announce the signing of Josh Gregorich.
Josh is the son of Mark and Donna Gregorich and hails from London, KY where he will graduate from Baylor Academy in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Gregorich will come into the UC program highly decorated. Josh was a member of the 2012 THSAA State Champion Team, a member of the 2011 & 2012 THSAA All-Region Team, and an Individual Qualifier for THSAA State Championship in 2010 and 2011.
In 2011, Josh was ranked 7th in the class of 2013 on Junior Golf Scoreboard. In 2009, Gregorich became only the 9th freshman in Baylor Academy history to make the varsity squad. He has also won the Crooked Creek Club Champion as a Junior and Adult player. Josh also qualified for the Optimist International Tournament at PGA National and has been named the Southeast KY Junior Tour Player of the Year.
When asked about coming to UC, Josh said, "After looking at several universities, I chose UC because of the classroom size and the opportunity for a one on one relationship with each professor. This is what I am accustomed too at Baylor. An additional reason is Coach Kraftick. I look forward to his training to taking my game to the next level."
Coach Kraftick commented, "This is an exciting day for both our program and me personally. I had the opportunity to coach Josh as a middle school athlete at North Laurel. After that year, I came to UC and Josh went to Baylor. We have always had a close relationship, so when we sat down this summer and discussed him playing for me again it was exciting. Josh is a talent, and I think he will fit in well with our program and guys. I really look forward to coaching him again."
