On Saturday, December 1st University of the Cumberlands (UC) Women's Wrestling Team will be hosting a dual with King College beginning at 9:00 am. During the wrestling tournament, the team will be collecting items to go towards creating care packages for United States troops overseas.
Example items that can go in the care packages that are food related include: canned foods, boxed snacks, easy to prepare foods, beef jerky, sunflower seeds, coffee, tea, hot cocoa mix, pre-sweetened drink mixes, Gatorade powder, hard candy, cookies, homemade cookies, candy bars, gum, mints, small bags of individually wrapped snacks - nuts, trail mix, power bars, protein bars, breakfast bars, pop tarts, granola bars, chips or crackers, and peanut butter.
Example items that can go in the care packages that are hygiene related include: baby wipes/cleansing cloths, toothpaste/toothbrushes, shampoo, deodorant, lotion, antibacterial soap, hand sanitizer, liquid body wash, eyeglass wipes, eyeglass case, sun block, aloe Vera, throat lozenges, cough drops, lip balm, aspirin, pain relievers, feminine hygiene products for military women, jock itch spray, foot powder, and antifungal/athlete's foot products.
Example items that can go in the care packages that are morale booster related include: letter writing supplies, sports balls, Frisbees, batteries, magazines, CD's if a CD player is provided, Christmas decorations, stuffed animals, phone cards, single use camera, and envelopes.
Writing personal notes to the troops is also encouraged to go in the packages saying thanks for their dedication and bravery. UC's Women's Wrestling Coach Alaina Berube encourages everyone to show their support for our Patriots both on the mats at the tournament and overseas protecting us.
