The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Men's Wrestling program is off to a solid start in the 2012-2013 season as they look to make a mark in the NAIA on their way to making another appearance at the NAIA National Championships.  After a solid week, one Patriots performance was good enough to earn the first Mid-South Conference (MSC) award of the season.

Sophomore Anthonie Linares (San Jose, CA) was named the MSC Wrestler of the Week on November 21st.  This is the first time that Linares has won a MSC Wrestler of the Week award.

Ranked 2nd in the NAIA in the 149 pound class at the time, Linares went 4-2 on the week at the Lindenwood University Open claiming a 7th place finish.  During his tournament, Linares earned a decision victory, 2 major decision wins, and a tech fall victory.  Linares' two losses came at the hands of Jordan Oliver of Oklahoma State University, the winner of the tournament, and Keenan Hagerty of Maryville University, the tournament's 5th place winner.  Linares improved to 8-2 on the season after the event.

The Patriots will be back in action on December 1st as they take part in the Little States Invite in Indianapolis, Indiana.
