The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Men and Women's Swim teams traveled to Bowling Green, KY to participate in the Western Kentucky Hilltopper Invitational November 15-17th. After a great showing from the Patriots, both the teams finished with great times and even more national qualifying times. The women's team finished 3rd with 321 points and the men finished 2nd with 493 points.
The women's team had a lone first place win from Charlotte Parent (Braine-l'allaud, Belgium) in the 100 Butterfly with a time of 56.37
The men's team had several first place finishers as follows:
- Elliott Fenton (Franklin, TN) - 200 Butterfly 1:56.50
- Zach Johnson (Ashland, KY) - 100 Backstroke 51.21
- Sam Huntley (Littleton, CO) - 200 Breaststroke 2:05.04
There were also several school records that were broken including:
Head Coach Eric Skelly commented, "This was a great meet for the team. We had 23 cuts that qualified for NAIA Nationals so this was fantastic. I'm happy with all the swims and it sets us up for a second half of the season."
UC will be back at home on December 1st as they host rival Lindsey Wilson College for a meet. Swims will begin at 1pm.
