The University of the Cumberlands (UC) football team has been playing at an unbelievable level this season. Last week, they bounced back nicely against the UVA-Wise Cavaliers winning by a convincing 75-13 margin. Many of the Patriots had great games but for 2 particular Patriots, their play was a notch above the rest in the Mid-South Conference (MSC).
Terrance Cobb (Knoxville, TN) has been on a tear this season, especially the last 3 games where he has carried for over 175 yards in each game. He has also ran for at least 3 touchdowns and 250 yards rushing in back to back games. Last week against the Cavaliers, he ran for 257 yards and 4 touchdowns on 26 carries to earn MSC Offensive Player of the Week. Cobb also moved into 4th all-time in rushing along with eclipsing the 1,000 yard mark this season. Terrance is also just 1 touchdown away from tying the Single Season rushing touchdown mark and 2 from breaking it.
Dekeldric Felton (Oglethorpe, GA) was also recognized for his great game Saturday as he was named the MSC Special Teams Player of the Week. On the first punt return of the game he ran it back 69 yards all the way to the end zone for the opening touchdown of the game. That was a huge play in the game as it sparked momentum for the Patriots and helped lead them to the victory.
The Patriots will be back in action this Saturday as they will take on the Campbellsville University Tigers. UC will also be hosting Senior Day as kickoff is scheduled for 1:30 pm with Senior Day festivities to start at 1:15 pm.
