The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Patriot Volleyball team had a long week of play including two matches during Fall Break.  While others were enjoying time off, the Patriots were enjoying bringing home 3 big wins on the week including victories over Midway College, Cumberland University, and Trevecca Nazarene University.

On Tuesday the 9th, UC hit the road traveling to take on the Midway College Eagles.  The Patriots came out fast and furious as they were able to cage the Eagles quickly in three straight sets by scores of 25-18, 25-22, 25-17.  Junior Megan Schulte (Beavercreek, OH) led the way with 12 kills on the night while freshman Samantha Stuckwisch (Seymour, IN) pitched in 16 assists.  Freshman Morgan Schlatter (Springboro, OH) was key on the defense for UC as she had 14 digs in the match.

The Patriots then travelled to Lebanon, TN to take on the Bulldogs of Cumberland University in a Mid-South Conference (MSC) matchup.  UC stepped on the floor ready and took another big MSC victory in straight sets by beating the Bulldogs by scores of 25-22, 25-20, 25-15.  Sophomore Stacey Sebald (Cincinnati, OH) and junior Cassie Kalman (Beavercreek, OH) both gave their part as they tallied 9 kills apiece.  Chelsea Hendrix (Seymour, IN) led the ladies in defensive digs with 21 digs on the night.  Junior Abby Dundon (Lexington, KY) was a big part of the offense as she pitched in 16 assists.

UC would then stick around the middle Tennessee area on Saturday the 13th to take on the Trojans of Trevecca Nazarene University.  The Patriots would have a tougher time in this one, but would come away with their 4th straight victory dating back to October 5th winning in 4 sets by scores of 25-20, 21-25, 25-19, 25-23.  Kalman, Sebald, and Schulte would combine for 33 kills on the night.  Stuckwisch and Dundon would also be big on the offensive as they totaled 41 assists.  Hendrix was nothing short of stellar in this match as she had a massive match with 33 digs on the night.

The Patriots will be back in action on October 16th at home as they host the Campbellsville University Tigers at 7pm.
