The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Volleyball program is in the middle of tough Mid-South Conference (MSC) play. The Patriots currently hold an 11-6 record on the year while being 4-3 in MSC play. This past week, one Patriot made huge contributions to the team and for her effort was honored.
UC's Cassie Kalman (Beavercreek OH) was named the Mid-South Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 7. The weekly award is Kalman's first of the season and of her career.
Kalman recorded double-digit kills in each of the Patriots two matches this past week helping her to earn the conference's weekly honor. She averaged 4.2 kills per set while also managing to gather a .380 attacking percentage. The junior outside hitter finished with 10 kills in a 3-0 loss to Lindsey Wilson College to open up the week. Cassie also contributed a week-best six digs in the match. She closed the week with 15 kills and two digs in a sweep of Brescia University.
Kalman is averaging 2.1 kills per set while posting a .114 attacking percentage this season.
The Patriots will be back in action on Tuesday night as they travel to take on Midway College. First serve is set for 7:00 pm.
