The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Women's Soccer team looked to continue to improve on the season this week, but had a tough team to do so against as they hosted NAIA #3 Lindsey Wilson College (LWC) for a game on Saturday. The Patriot ladies were unable to take down their Mid-South Conference (MSC) foe as they fell to LWC by a score of 5-1. UC now has a season record of 2-8 with a MSC record of 0-5.
Scoring started in the 20th minute for Lindsey as Mia Persson found the back of the net for a 1-0 lead. The Blue Raiders would add 4 more goals in the first half including a 2nd goal for Persson and two goals for Elisha Fry to give them a 5-0 lead at the break.
UC did find their way onto the scoreboard in the 62nd minute as Ana Derrico (Brazil) would find the back of the net with an assist by Briana Parrish (Paris, KY). The Patriots would continue to fight, but would come up short falling to LWC with the final score 5-1. Goalie Autumn Williams (Lexington, KY) did record 8 saves in the game.
The Patriot ladies will be back on the field on October 10th as a part of a MSC doubleheader as they travel to take on MSC opposition St. Catharine's College. Kickoff is set for 2:00 p.m.
