The University of the Cumberlands (UC) traveled to Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia, KY to take on the Rams of Bluefield College along with the UVA-Wise Cavs in a tri-match.  This was a good weekend for the Patriot ladies on the court as they were able to take wins in both matches improving their record in the Mid-South Conference (MSC).  

UC took on newcomer to the MSC Bluefield College in the first match of the day.  The Patriots came out with confidence and took this match in straight sets 3-0 by scores of 25-23, 25-17, 25-18.  Sophomore Stacey Sebald (Cincinnati, OH) led UC's offensive attack with 15 kills.  Freshman Samantha Stuckwisch (Seymour, IN) was a key part of the offense in this one as she pitched in 21 assists in the match.  Kelsey Dew (Clinton, TN) and Chelsea Hendrix (Seymour, IN) both were busy on the defensive as they each had 7 digs. 

UC would then take a rest before going against UVA-Wise.  The Patriots would take a large chunk of momentum into the match and carry it through for another straight sets victory over the Cavs 3-0 by scores of 25-16, 25-18, 25-19. Sebald once again took the lead with kills with a total of 9.  Stuckwisch led UC on helpers with 13 assists.  Dew was busy again on defense as she racked up another 7 digs in this match. 

Head Coach Kara Clemenz commented, "Last week was a great week for us.  All 3 matches were conference and not only did we win all of them, but we didn't drop a set.  This is the level of consistency that we have been working towards.  We got a look at 2 teams from the East Division and played really well against them.  In efforts to continue building our program, we were able to get younger players some much needed experience.  After gaining 2 wins in their gym, we are excited to head back to LWC on Tuesday for a big West Division match up."

The Patriots will be back in action on October 2^nd as they travel to Lindsey Wilson to take on the Blue Raiders.  Match time is set for 7:30 pm.  UC will be back at home on October 5^th as they host the Brescia University Bearcats. First serve is set for 6:00 pm.
