The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Patriots football team is continuing its winning ways. After a 63-21 victory over the Bears of the University of Pikeville, UC moved to 4-0 on the season and 2-0 in Mid-South Conference play. The Patriots yet again are catching the eyes of national voters and climbed once again this week in the NAIA Top 25 poll.
UC jumped two spots this week from #14 up to #12 in the NAIA Coaches' Top 25 poll. The Patriots are 1 of 8 teams in the Top 20 in the NAIA with a 4-0 record. Other MSC teams joining the Patriots in this week's poll are Georgetown College (#3), Cumberland University (#19), and newcomer to the polls Faulkner University (#25). St. Xavier University (Illinois) remains the #1 team in the polls garnering all 14 first place votes.
The Patriots carry a 9 game winning streak dating back to last season into this weekend's Homecoming game against Lindsey Wilson College. This will be the first ever meeting of the two schools as the Blue Raiders are currently in their 3rd season of football. Kickoff is slated for 1:30 pm.
