The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Men's Cross Country team is having a fantastic season thus far with numerous top 3 finishes.  Coaches and raters around the country are seeing the Patriots' improvement and are crediting UC as they moved up in this week's NAIA Top 25 poll.

During the week of September 9th, the University of the Cumberlands men's cross country team garnered a #25 ranking in the poll.  After their outstanding third place finish at the Cedarville Invitational in Cedarville, OH, the men proved that 25th wasn't good enough.  After this week's release of rankings, the Patriots men's team moved up four spots to 21st.

With their 21st place ranking in the polls, the Patriots earned 185 points in the polls moving them up 4 spots, tying them with the 2nd largest jump in the polls this week.  The Patriots were joined by Mid-South Conference rival Shawnee State University as they stayed ranked above the Patriots in 10th, dropping 5 spots from last week. The boys are in high hopes to bring the team to nationals after competing in the Mid-South Conference race in November.

Ranked number one in the coaches' poll for the men's side of the competition again this week was Southern Oregon.  The team received eighteen first place votes and earned a total of 559 points.

Both the men and women's teams are taking a week off before traveling to Louisville, Kentucky to compete in Greater Louisville on September 29th, 2012.
