University of the Cumberlands (UC) seniors Landon Hamilton (Andover, OH) and Darcy Mascotti (Bellbrook, OH) has each been named the Mid-South Conference (MSC) Cross Country Runners of the Week.
This past weekend, Hamilton and Mascotti each had outstanding performances in Cincinnati at the Queen City Invitational that earned them Mid-South Conference honors. This is the first week of the season that Hamilton and Mascotti have earned this honor.
For Hamilton, this is his third MSC runner of the week award of his career. Hamilton ran the 5,000-meter course in a time of 16 minutes and 4.06 seconds to lead the Patriots as he finished in 12th place. Hamilton competed against 135 other competitors which included those of NAIA, NCAA Division I and II schools. Hamilton led the Patriots to a 7th place team finish out of 12 schools.
Mascotti earned her fourth MSC runner of the week award of her career as she won the Queen City Invitational on Friday against a field that included NAIA, NCAA Division I and Division II schools. She took on 107 competing woman to earn her first win of the season. Mascotti finished the 5,000-meter course in 18 minutes and 41.42 seconds, nearly 6 full seconds ahead of the second place finisher. This effort helped the Patriots to a 4th place finish out of 10 competing teams.
The Patriots Cross Country teams will continue on with their already impressive season as they travel to Cedarville, Ohio to compete in the Cedarville Invitational on Saturday September 15th, 2012.
