The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Women's Golf Team wrapped up the final round of the Bill Sergent Invitational with an impressive 1st place finish over Lee University.  The Patriot ladies led by 10 strokes entering the final round and were able to increase their lead as they won the team tournament title by 15 strokes. UC shot a 303 (+11) on day one and a 313 (+21) for a two day total of 616 (+32).  Runner up Lee University shot a 313 (+21) on day one and shot a 318 (+26) for a two day total of 631 (+47).

Liz Stephens (Tockington, Bristol, UK) captured the individual title shooting a 77 (+4) in the 2nd round for a two day total of 146 (E).  Laura Beth Harris (Glasgow, KY) followed with a 2nd place finish firing a 73 (E) for day two and a two day total of 149 (+3).  McKinzie Price (Somerset, KY) finished the tournament tied for 6th shooting an 80 (+7) in the final round for a two day total of 158 (+12) while Taylor Gillis (Lawrenceburg, KY) followed closely shooting an 83 (+10) on day two for a tournament total of 163 (+17).  Rounding out the team was Chelsea Branscum (Somerset, KY) shooting a final round 87 (+14) for a two day total of 172 (+26).

Individuals also competed for UC including Bri-Anne Tokariwski (Manitoba, Canada), who fired a 2nd round 73 (E) and two day total of 156 (+10) giving her a 4th place finish.  Shannon Bishop (Glasgow, KY) shot an 82 (+9) in the 2nd round to finish with a two day total of 159 (+13) and tied for 8th place.  Cristina Jimenez (Murcia, Spain) rounded out the players for UC shooting an 86 (+13) in the last round for a two day total of 175 (+29) and in 26th place.

Coach Chris Kraftick commented, "Since day one this year, I have loved the mindset of the team.  The work ethic and level of play has been tremendous.  This tournament win was a great reward for all their hard work.  We feel as though we have 8 really good players and the competition they face each day in practice is only making them better.  We'll enjoy this for a day or so and start preparing for the Mid-South Conference (MSC) Fall Tournament."
 
The Patriot ladies will be back on the links on September 17th and 18th as they take part in the MSC Fall Tournament at the Campbellsville Country Club in Campbellsville, KY.
