The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Men's Soccer team kicked off their home schedule on Wednesday, September 5th against the Eagles of Reinhardt University.  The Patriots ended up going through 110 minutes of play against the Eagles and ended with a 1-1 tie to move their record to 1-0-1 on the year.

The Patriots fell behind early as Tom Wilson put a goal in the top right corner of the net in the 7th minute of the game.  UC's defense then stepped up dramatically but was still behind after the first 45 minutes 1-0.

In the 75th minute, the Patriots made it a whole different ballgame as Ciaran Tracey (Dublin, Ireland) put a goal in the back of the net scoring the lone goal for the Patriots.  The game went into double overtime with UC having an amazing 37 shots with 19 of those on goal.

Pedro Antonelli (Mairipord, Brazil) had 7 shots for UC with 2 shots on goal.  Andres Pedraza (Bogota, Colombia), Ariel Castanon (Chile), Rafael Lima de Lucas (Sao Paulo, Brazil), and Daniel Ferreira (Sao Paulo, Brazil) each had 5 shots a piece. Kerrie Latapy (Trinidad and Tobago) had 4 shots, and Filipe Silva and Tracey each had 3 shots. Goalie Paulo Machado (Sao Paulo, Brazil) saved four goals throughout the 110 minute match.

The Patriots will once again take to their home turf on Wednesday, September 12th at 4:00 pm in their first conference match against Bluefield College.
