The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Men's Golf team had one of its most successful seasons in 2011-2012 earning a 5thplace finish in the NAIA National Championship Tournament.  With numerous Mid-South Conference (MSC) honors along with NAIA and PING All-American honors being handed out to individuals on the Patriots team, another honor has now come forth for the entire team.

Not only did the Patriots do well on the course but they also showed how they excelled in the classroom as well.  The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) came out with its 2012 Academic Awards presented by Farmers Insurance.  The Patriots were chosen as an Academic Team, which means they earned a team GPA of a 3.0 and higher.  The Patriots were one of only 12 teams in the NAIA and the only team in the Mid-South Conference to be chosen for this prestigious award.

Farmers insurance is the proud sponsor of this event and stated, "We are proud to honor top performing academic men's golf programs in the country."

Head Patriot Golf Coach Chris Kraftick commented, "We value our academics highly at UC.  Our guys do a great job in making sure that academics are a priority as they are students first, then athletes.  I'm very proud of our guys and to be the one of only 12 teams in the NAIA to earn the honor is something that I am very proud of and I know that our team members are also very excited about."
