The 2012-2013 University of the Cumberlands (UC) Women's Soccer team is training towards what looks to be a successful season. With the addition of new members and returning leadership, Head Coach Russell Stewart will return for his 4thseason looking to lead the Patriots to the top of the Mid-South Conference (MSC) standings.
Each year, the head coaches of teams in the Mid-South Conference vote on the team they believe will win the MSC Tournament at the end of the season in the 2012 Preseason Poll. This year, the Patriots have been voted 5th with 50 points.
Lindsey Wilson College has once again been voted 1st with a total of 81 points with 9 of the 1st-place votes while Georgetown College was voted 2nd with 68 points and the final 1st-place vote. Finishing out the top three is Cumberland University in its first full year of membership with the MSC with 58 points.
Voted 4th in the conference is Campbellsville University with 56 points followed by Cumberlands. Trailing UC is Shawnee State University (44), the University of Rio Grande (34), the University of Pikeville (25), St Catharine College (24), and new MSC addition Bluefield College (10) to round out the Preseason Poll.
The Patriots will begin their 2012 season on the road as they travel to take on Montreat College on September 1st at 3:00 pm.
