University of the Cumberlands Baseball Coach Brad Shelton has announced the signing of Adam Quiles of Miami, Florida.  Adam has just completed his sophomore season at South Florida Community College where he pitched for Coach Rick Hitt.

Over the past two seasons, Adam has appeared in 30 games, striking out 55 hitters in 72 innings of work.  As a high school player, Adam helped lead Flanagan High School to a Florida 6A State Championship and a final ranking of #1 in the USA Today national high school baseball poll.  As a sophomore, Adam hit .425 with 10 homeruns.  As a junior starting pitcher he compiled an 8-1 record with a 1.75 ERA.  During his senior season he was 5-0 with a 3.48 ERA and helped lead the team to a 25-2 record while pitching in the Florida State Championship game.

Coach Shelton commented about Quiles, "Adam is an experienced junior college transfer who can start, pitch middle relief or close games.  He is an athletic guy who has a chance to be really good in our league.  He has been successful in a tough junior college league and won a state championship in Florida.  We believe his winning attitude is really going to give our pitching staff and our team a boost in 2013.  We are excited that he is joining our team."
