Cumberlands' baseball coach Brad Shelton has announced the signing of Ryan Johnson from Nashville, Tennessee.  Ryan is a transfer from Volunteer State Community College where he has been a starting infielder for the Pioneers for the past two seasons.

At Volunteer State, Ryan played second base, third base, and shortstop.  As a freshman, he hit .352 with an on base percentage of .439 and scored 24 runs.  He also had a team best fielding percentage of .982.  As a sophomore, Johnson hit .293 with an on base percentage of .427 while fielding .973.  Ryan served as a President's Ambassador during his sophomore year at Volunteer State.

Johnson prepped at Davidson Academy where he was named All-Region following his freshman, junior, and senior seasons.  He was also named to the TBCA Team as a junior.

Coach Shelton had this to say about Ryan Johnson, "Ryan is that spark plug type guy that we needed to add to our team.  He is an excellent defender and is a player who understands the importance of getting on base.  We needed a couple of table setters for our lineup and we believe Ryan can be one of those guys."
