The University of the Cumberlands Patriot Baseball team has signed Nick Bellman of Ohio to their 2012-13 roster.
Bellman is a left handed pitcher/outfielder from Kings High School in Ohio. At Kings, Nick helped lead his team to a 20-8 record during his senior season. As a junior, Bellman was named second team All Fort Ancient Valley Conference and in 2012, he was named first team All FAVC. As a senior, Nick hit .388 with a .476 on base percentage while driving in 27 runs. On the mound, he was 4-3 with 35 strikeouts and a 2.63 ERA in 42 innings of work.
Coach Brad Shelton commented, "Nick is another projectable lefty that we think can develop during his time here. He has a strong arm and some deception in his delivery. Coach John Sullivan (a former Patriot shortstop) has really helped us with our recruiting in Ohio and West Virginia. Nick is another guy who has played for Sully and helped us get him down to visit."
